How
are we to
live?
Who are we? What are we to do, how are we to live while we are on this earth? Let us talk about it.
John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Let us look at the Bible. 1 John 5:4-5 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Deut 28:13 And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. 4. Do we live such a life? No. Most of the times we find ourselves living not being able to rise above our problems and live a defeated life, getting discouraged and full of fear, distorted in our minds.
There are many answers to this question but I’d like to focus on one thing and that is the basis on which Jesus Christ lived. Let us look at: Matt 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. So, we see Jesus living on the basis of the written word of God. That is the basis on which we are to live today. Our anchor is the Word of God. When we face problems in our lives, pressures from all sides, the basic thing we need to understand is that we have the capacity to overcome and an in-born nature to be victorious and conquer these problems. Whether we see it or feel it, we should not get moved from what the Word of God says. We should hold on to the written word of God. I have told Satan, “ Satan! It is written. I have the nature in me to overcome and I will overcome. Period.” We should not give in to reasoning and stop living by the written word of God. In fact, our faith in God’s word gets deep-rooted only as we face problems. Our faith goes deeper into the living God. This is the life that will lead us to victory. We need to accumulate victories after victories. Main hindrance to living a victorious life: First of all we are to be convinced “no matter what or who opposes us whether people or the devil or the evil spirits” we have the inborn nature to be victorious as sons & daughters of God and there can be no hindrance. The main hindrance is when we start thinking that other people are hindering us from being victorious or when we think Satan is robbing us of a victorious life. The victory is solely dependent on us. The word of God is clear that we are to be overcomers. And we should not let down our faith when we face trials and problems in life and think that we cannot make it. No. No. Ps 91:7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. So, no man can hinder us from being overcomers. It also says, the whole hell cannot stand before us. Matt
the gates of Hades shall not prevail against us. So, we should not start fighting against people. Then we will lose our power before Satan. Eph 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. So, 2 things. 1. Live based on the written word of God. 2. Blaming no one for our defeats. We are to rise above all those hindrances. God bless you. Nirmal Stephenson, 8/16/03 |
